Sunday 5th September

My name is Kylie and this is the first post of many telling of our adventures in Port Moresby where my husband has been transferred for work for the next 3 - 5 years.  We are Steven and Kylie Anderson and have two daughters.  Tiarna is 18 years old and lives in Townsville. Monique is 14 years old and will be going to boarding school in Cairns while we are in PNG.  She will come up to us in the school holidays which I will be looking forward to as I will miss her.  We are hoping that Tiarna will fly up for a visit at Christmas time.

Currently we are still in Mount Isa packing up the house and selling everything, finding homes for Googly (our dog) and Sir Dudealot (our cat), getting all the paperwork filled out for visas and medicals etc, and saying goodbye to some fantastic friends.  We expect this process will take about 5 - 6 weeks and Steve is tentively expected to start work in Port Moresby on the 11th of October.  We will see.  The paperwork is very involved and the process of getting all of the medicals done and the injections done (I'm certainly not looking forward to that) is going to take a bit of time to get through.  In the meantime, there is still the walls to paint and the floor to polish in our house in Mount Isa to get it ready for sale.

Monique and I will be travelling to Townsville on the 14th of September to see an oral surgeon and orthodontist, and then to Cairns the next day to have a tour of the boarding school.  We then will be doing a road trip to Brisbane where Monique will stay with my sister Yolander while I go to the Joining Festival on the Sunshine Coast with my friend Esther.  Then it's a quick drive back to Cairns for Monique to start school.  Whew.  What a busy couple of weeks.  And after all of that, I have to drive back to Mount Isa to pick up Steve and the trailer with the bit of stuff we are storing while we are living in PNG.  We will head to Cairns which will be our Australian base.

And so to the start of our new life.....
